Handcarved 4-color reductive Linoleum print measuring 7" x 6". The image has been carved out of battleship grey linoleum and printed onto a high-quality acid-free 140 lb (300 gsm) cold press paper. This is printed in a limited edition run of 20 prints and will never be printed again. The reduction component of this print makes lining up each layer precisely very difficult, which resulted in a print that can never be reproduced or printed.
The imagery depicted within this print is the view I saw every day when I lived in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. When I was 20 years old I lived and worked in the largest fishing exporting town in the country. Dutch Harbor is known for being the location of the tv show, The Deadliest Catch, which follows crab fishmen in the journey. While working an immense amount of hours, I spent my very limited free time hiking the mountains that surrounded Dutch Harbor. The beauty and majesty that is palpable would move anyone who is ale to partake in this amazing view. This print depicts the view I got to see everyday. My goal has been to create a print that reflects this amazing natural scenery. I hope that viewers of this print can admire the inherent beauty that Dutch Harbor, Alaska has to offer.
