Original multicolor reduction woodcut print. Handprinted and hand-carved 9 color reduction woodcut print. The printed area measures 14 inches by 20 inches. This can fit an 18"x24" inch frame with no mat and have a 2-inch white paper border, or it can be beautifully matted and fit a standard size 18"x24" or a 24"x30" frame. Print is a Limited Edition of 12 that can no longer ever be made or printed again. Carving each layer and then printing that part of the image 9 separate times took me over 70+ hours to complete. To be honest it is probably much higher than that, but I don't want to think about it.
This is the 9th print in my anthropomorphic animal/human series. This series was fun to create and design. Each print is focused on finding the personality traits of each animal and then matching clothing to resemble that associated personality trait. This print is titled, Garden Party, and is a depiction of the summer time and the leisure that it entails. I envision a family of rabbits eating the vegetables in my garden, yet they are relaxing and enjoying the boutiful harvest in front of them. I like to imagine that the rabbits are at a fancy garden party eating decedant food and sipping lemonade. The style of shirt and the imagery is meant to depict a formal garden party in which the luxurious is flaunted while enjoying the amazing weather that midwest summers offer.
