KinKaKu-Ji Temple

Handcarved woodblock print measuring 16" x 22".  The image has been carved out of baltic birch plywood and printed onto a high-quality acid-free 140 lb (300 gsm) cold press paper.  This is a single-layer woodblock print that took over 50 hours to carve.  This is printed in a limited edition run of 4 prints and will never be printed again.  My trip to Kyoto, Japan to work with an internationally known printmaking artist has inspired a lot of my work.  Bonsai trees, temples, and shrines are just a few points of inspiration.  Places of great importance and places that hold a deep memory and significance in my life have always been a huge inspiration and focus within my work.  The unique qualities and textural elements of nature interacting seamlessly with temples in Japan is very meditative.  My trip to Japan holds a special place in my heart.  Being able to experience the beauty all around Kyoto has been a subject matter that runs throughout my work.  This piece mixes my interest in extreme detail and precise linework while depicting natural beauty.  This print fits into an 18" x 24" frame with a 1-inch paper border or a 24" x 30" frame with a 2 1/2-inch mat.  This amazing piece of artwork would look incredible displayed within your house, apartment, or business.
